Medical condition: Hypothyroid, blind |
Description: Sweet Bernadette comes to Pug Rescue from the Bakersfield shelter. She was very sick with kennel cough when we got her, and having quite a lot of difficulty breathing. Once Bernadette was over the kennel cough, she was able to have her teeth cleaned, her palate shortened, and she is now fully recovered from surgery and feeling great! She is doing well and is ready to start looking for her new home! Her blood work shows that she has hypothyroid, but this is easily managed with daily medication. Bernadette is completely blind, but that has not slowed her down one bit. She gets around just fine, and learned her way around her foster home in a day. Bernadette is potty trained, but she likes to have company when she goes outside. Bernadette is great with kids, gets along well with other dogs, and is quite a lover. Bernadette does "talk" a lot, and occasionally gets in trouble with the other Pugs in her foster home because they think she's starting a fight. She's not, but she also won't back down. This girl is nobodies pushover! Bernadette is a "velcro" pug, and likes to be with someone all the time. She does not really like to be left alone, so a home where she can have company most of the time would be best. Bernadette is adjusting to being with just her foster Pug siblings during the day, as her foster mom works. Bernadette has recovered from her surgery and is feeling great, so she is now ready to look for a forever home in which to rest her paws. Why not consider giving this darling girl a family of her own? Update 11/27/10 - Bernadette found a wonderful home, but due to her owner's declining health, Bernadette had to come back to Pug Rescue. Bernadette is a sweet, sweet girl and is once again looking for a perfect forever home. She promises not to be too much trouble, and she'll love you more than you can imagine. On 2/24/11 Bernadette crossed the Rainbow Bridge, surrounded by friends. Her health problems had become much worse, and it was drastically affecting her quality of life. It was decided that the kindest thing for Bernadette would be to let her rest. She will be missed, and we hope that this dear girl can now rest peacefully. |
