Description: Bug is a sweet, affectionate, and cuddly 4 year old male pug. He is neutered and up to date on his shots. Bug, or "Buggy" is a love bug that has a relaxed temperament and is very easy going.
Bug is content being a couch potato with his humans while also retaining playful puppy-like silliness with toys and playmates. He loves playing with stuffed toys and will bring his favorites everywhere he goes. Bug's original owners unfortunately used a shock collar on him but he does not have any lasting behavioral issues and it hasn't seemed to affect him negatively beyond scarring around his neck and some physical signs of neglect. His natural temperament is very chill and relaxed and is great on car rides, at the vet, on walks, at the beach, and is really good with baths.
Bug is a special needs pug with neurological spinal issues which leads to weaker back legs that affects his ability to walk normally (we use booties for traction/protection and have a dog stroller in case he tires) and he has difficulty with incontinence. He is housebroken and tries to go out but unfortunately has accidents due to medical incontinence beyond his control and would do well with a family that is home often or has a dog door.
He is currently being fostered with a large 70 lb female dog and another male pug; he loves playing and cuddling with them both and he would get along with most dogs of all shapes and sizes. We don't know how he is with cats, but we do know he is great with young children and teens and will soak up all of the affection he can get.
Bug is very respectful of boundaries, eager to please, responsive to direction, and is very well behaved with both dogs and humans. He has really good sleep hygiene and will "head to bed" at around the same time every night and loves being tucked in with his favorite blankets and toys. Bug's ideal owner is someone experienced with caring for special needs pugs and is familiar with giving a little extra love and care.
With a patient owner willing to open up their heart and work with his medical incontinence, Bug would make the perfect puggy companion and would bring tremendous joy and unconditional love to your lives. |
