Medical condition: Pannus - an inflammation of her eyes |

Little Elsie come to Pug Rescue from the shelter. We don't know much about her history, but we suspect her life has not been so great. She came to us a bit thin, and with Pannus, which is an inflammation of her eyes, as well as some wounds around her neck which we suspect were caused by a collar that got too tight and started to grow into her skin. Elsie is sweet with her foster family, but doesn't seem very comfortable with the other dogs. She also is likely in quite a bit of discomfort from the infection in her eyes, which certainly may be affecting her current behavior. Elsie's eyes are being treated, but we don't know yet how much vision she may have lost. Elsie seems to see fine, but we'll know more after her recheck at the vet's office. Elsie does love to snuggle and sleep in bed with her foster family, and we are sure that she will make a wonderful companion, given some time, patience, and lots of love. She does have a lot of puppy energy still, and jumps up and loves to chew so training would be a great idea for her to help her settle into a new home. At this time, we feel that a home without small children would be best for Elsie, as she may not react well to the noise and commotion of little people. We also think she may do best as an only dog, but that may change as she settles in to her new environment. Either way, a calm, loving home is just what this girl needs.
