Description:
Sweet Pea comes to Pug Rescue from the Orange County shelter, and our vets estimate her age to be between 4 and 5 years old. She is approximately 16 lbs. with a tiny little face and a wet seal sleek coat. She is being treated for a UTI and has kidney stones, after a course of strong antibiotics, she will be spayed and have any remaining stones removed. She is also enjoying a prescription Urinary/Stone diet. This problem is causing Sweet Pea alot of pain and some potty issues, she constantly feels the urge to urinate and strains to do so, whenever and where ever the urge hits. Although this is difficult, we believe it is just due to her medical issues and will improve as her health does. She has good potty instincts, is crate trained and anxious to make it outside to GO. Luckily Sweet Pea is in a very dedicated foster home who is with her all day long and makes great efforts to help Sweet Pea get outside when she feels the need, which is often at this point.
Sweet Pea has a loving way about her, gazing at you and searching for your approval in all activities. During feeding time, she acts shy, nibbles one bit at a time, when you cheer and clap for her she wags that tail and eats her food right up. She is silly and a prancy dancer, joyful and vigorous about everything she does. She does just fine with her three foster pug buddies and her great dane foster dad. Her foster family also includes two cats, to which she seems oblivious, and three children. After her spay and recovery, Sweet Pea would do well in a family with other dogs or not, she enjoys their company but is mostly looking for human love and approval, so an only dog position would be pleasing to her as well. If you think you'd like to add this darling Sweet Pea to your garden, contact us about meeting this special girl. Sweet Pea had 52 kidney stones removed. No wonder this poor girl was in so much pain! She is now feeling much, much better and will hopefully be going to her new forever home soon.

New Beginning: Sweet Pea and Oprah have found a new home together! These two lucky girls caught the eye of Rodney and Allen, a family in New Jersey who have been looking for a Pug to adopt after losing their beloved Pug, Ping, passed away in September. Rodney and Allen had looked and looked locally, and happened across our website in their search. They fell in love with both of these darling divas, and the decision was made to fly out and bring them home. The guys came all the way out here to San Diego so Sweet Pea and Oprah could fly back with them in the cabin. Sweet Pea and Oprah went to their new home just last night (4/27/10) and they are in Pug heaven! They were absolute ladies on the flight over, and were greeted by JetBlue service managers who were very excited to meet these California girls. The girls then got to go home and check out their yard. We are told that Sweet Pea ran around like a crazy lady and Oprah did a very lady like walk through and deemed it appropriate for herself. They then got to snuggle up in bed and there was much rolling, snuggling, kissing and cuddling - because on the bed is where Pugs are supposed to be! We are absolutely thrilled that these two girls have found a wonderful family, and we know that Rodney and Allen are happy to have double the Pug love in their home again! While we recognize that nothing could ever replace their beloved Ping, we'd like to hope that she is smiling down and happy that her family has found two new girls to adore.
