Description:
Introducing adorable Colby! Colby comes to Pug Rescue from his owner who could no longer handle Colby's constant diarrhea. We will do everything we can to find a solution to Colby's tummy troubles so that he may live a happy, healthy, long life with a new forever family. Colby has been to see our vets and we have treated him for giardia, although he tested negative, the treatment seems to be working! Colby does have a small belly button hernia, but our vets say that it does not need surgery. Colby is now doing great, and other than a tiny rash on his lower parts, he is ready to start meeting potential families! Colby is already neutered, but is not yet potty trained. Poor guy has had a tough time of it with having diarrhea for so long, he just couldn't hold it! His foster family is working with him, and he'll need a home where he can continue to learn house manners. Colby gets along great with other dogs and kids. He is a bundle of energy and just loves to play, play, play! Update 5/13/11 - Little Colby found a wonderful home last summer, and they diligently worked to help his tummy get better. Unfortunately, Colby's tummy is very sensitive and he will need to be kept on a strict diet, without many of the handouts that most dogs get. And in a home with small children, Colby was just getting ahold of too many things that weren't good for his tummy, resulting in more diarrhea. The very difficult decision was made to return Colby to Pug Rescue so we could look for a home for him that is able to restrict his diet. Colby's current foster mom is feeding him a raw diet, and is having great success with it. He is also on meds for giardia again, and that seems to be helping. Colby's new family will need to be conscientious about what Colby is allowed to eat, and willing to work with his foster mom on learning about what to feed him. Colby's foster mom has extensive knowledge about raw diets, and is more than happy to help Colby's new family so that he can be successful in his new home. Like any puppy, Colby will need continued training in order to be a well behaved member of the family, but he is such a bright little guy, he should be easy to teach.
