Description: Meet Phoenix - the Pug who sees with his heart. This sweet boy comes to Pug Rescue from the Riverside shelter. This was Phoenix's second trip to the shelter, he showed up there when he was just a year old with punctured eyes. His shelter notes said that he spent his time there huddled in the back of the kennel, miserable because his eyes hurt so badly. Phoenix's original owner came and picked him up that first time, and promised to take Phoenix to the vet... but he never did. Instead, Phoenix's eyes were left to heal on their own, and his sight was lost forever. This time when Phoenix got out of his yard and showed up at the shelter again, his owner didn't come for him. This is just fine by Phoenix because now he is in the loving care of a Pug Rescue foster, who is showing him how good life can be for a Pug. Phoenix had another name, but his foster mom decided that Phoenix was a better fit for this guy, after the mythical bird that rises from the ashes when it is reborn, our little Phoenix is certainly is ready to embark on a new life. Phoenix gets along with everyone he meets, and despite the cruel treatment and pain he has endured, he is a friendly, sweet fellow. He is doing just fine with all his foster dog siblings. Phoenix ADORES children and would really love to have some of his very own. Being blind does not slow Phoenix down at all, and he has learned his way around his foster home quickly. Phoenix has never been allowed in the house, but is doing very well with his potty training already. He currently has round the clock access to the yard, and gets himself out the door just fine. He will be going to our vets to be neutered and have a complete check up, and then this sweet boy will be looking for a new forever family who will be willing to spoil him and show him how Pugs are supposed to live - indoors, loved and cherished. Phoenix may not be able to see with his eyes, but his heart works just fine and has plenty of love to share. If you think your heart might just have room for Phoenix, we're certain his heart will have plenty of room for you. If you'd like to meet this special Pug, contact us. |
